Your eyes require constant lubrication. When we think of “tears,” we think of crying, but there’s so much more to tears than just that. For example, tears also help to lubricate and nourish your eyes. They can keep your eyes moist so that they don’t get dry. For many of us, we don’t have enough tears to keep our eyes as moist as they should be. For others, it might be that our eyes don’t have the caliber of tears that can make our eyes as moist as we would like. Our treatments are designed specifically to make up for that.
Often, we get asked some version of “why are my eyes so dry?” We can’t just say “because we live in Southern California” as an answer, but that’s a crucial reason why. This is a wonderful area, with incredible weather essentially all year long. However, it also has very low humidity. The moisture that comes with humidity might be enough to keep your eyes from getting dry. Without it, for many of us, our eyes are far drier than we would like.
That being said, there are plenty of other reasons that your eyes could be dry that have nothing to do with our SoCal climate. A major reason that so many of us have dry eyes is that we spend all of our workdays in front of a computer. If you’re typing away in a cubicle, eyes on the screen, for eight hours a day or more for years on end, then your eyes are more likely to be dry than others. Our treatments can help with this quite a bit.
Medical conditions can make our eyes drier than we would like. As we age, arthritis becomes more common and more difficult to deal with. The same can go for allergies as well. Unfortunately, simply having arthritis or allergies can make you more likely to have eyes that are dry as well. Additionally, menopause can cause drier eyes. Of course, you don’t have to be aging to have a condition that leads to drier eyes. Pregnant women can experience drier eyes as well. The hormone changes associated with menopause and pregnancy can make your eyes drier than you might prefer. Many of the treatments at Ottica are specifically designed to address the needs of our clients.
Even the medications we take and medical procedures that we go through can give us eyes that are dry. For example, decongestants and oral contraceptives are just a few of the medications that dry your eyes out. LASIK surgery can do wonderful things for your eyes, making it easier to see and concentrate. However, they can dry out your eyes, leading to the problems associated with dryness.
Your environment can have a lot to do with how dry your eyes are as well. Many of our customers come to us because their eyes are so dry from having been somewhere with lots of smoke or ash. Of course, no matter what has caused your dry eyes, when you come to Ottica, we can make sure that your eyes are lubricated so that you don’t have to deal with any of the problems associated with eye dryness anymore. Here, your eyes will be well-lubricated, moist and ready to face the day.
At Ottica, we have so many different kinds of treatments for eye dryness. Some treatments will be more effective than others. After all, everyone’s eyes are different. Your eyes are different than the next person. There’s a reason that “retina scans” are used in so many different kinds of locking systems, after all. So, to make sure that you get the right eye dryness treatment, it’s important to find the perfect treatment plan.
That’s where our Ottica professionals come in. We’ve been helping folks with eye dryness for decades. Now, we can put together an eye dryness treatment plan that will absolutely fit your needs. We’ll sit down with you to go over all of the different ways that the dryness has impacted you and your life. After checking you out and assessing your situation, we’ll lay out the various options that you have for eye dryness. That way, you can get the treatment that’s right for your needs.
One of the more popular ways that we can help is through what are called “punctual plugs.” These plugs go into your tear ducts. These plugs make it possible for your eyes to get all of the different moisture and lubrication that they need. As with all of our other treatments, this one is put together in such a way as to meet all of your needs. Dissolvable punctual plugs are exactly that: plugs which go into your tear ducts and then eventually dissolve. Of course, this treatment is entirely safe, as these plugs are often made of materials such as collagen. As collagen is good for your body anyway, it’s simply absorbed into your body once the treatment is over.
Another, more lasting kind of treatment is through semi-permanent tear duct plugs. These last much longer, and can even be in your tear ducts for months on end. These are made of stronger materials than collagen, such as silicone. When these are put into your tear ducts, they tend to stay there for a while. No matter which of these treatments you use, our professionals will make sure that your safety is the most important part.
Many of our treatments are far less intensive than that. Often, before our professionals make the decision to give you tear duct plugs as an option, instead we try eye drops first. These aren’t the eye drops that you can buy in the store or over the counter; these are professional grade, in many cases prescription eye drops. These artificial tears can give your eyes the moisture and lubrication that they’ve been looking for.
On top of that, we have natural tear stimulation as well. For many of our customers, it’s just that their tears need to be stimulated, not any further or more rigorous treatment. So, we go about stimulating their tears and giving them the tear treatments that they need. Additionally, we offer many nutritional supplements as well.
When we think of “nutritional supplements,” we think of diets, staying in shape, eating right, and that kind of thing. However, nutritional supplements can do far more than just that. Nutritional supplements are filled with nutrients. By having these nutrients in our bodies, it can enable the health of many of our body parts, including the tear ducts.
Ottica has a proven track record of helping folks to get the eye treatment that they need. If your eyes are too dry, too red, or have other problems, our medical professionals can help treat those conditions. When you call us for a free consultation, we’ll sit down and talk to you about what you want to achieve. From there, we can lay out all of our various options. Just call us at (310) 873-6141
